The Red with the climbing team

I headed up to the red this past weekend with three of the climbing kids; AJ, Andres and Lydia. It was an awesome trip. We climbed at Drive By, The Motherlode and the Chocolate Factory. I didn’t really get on anything too hard throughout the trip, mostly due to an injured finger that I’m trying to heal up some before this weekend’s competition. I figured that a lot of climbing and getting pumped would be good for it due to all the blood flow into the hands and arms. The two things that I did get on that were harder were Easy Rider (13a) at Drive By and Malice (12c) at the Chocolate Factory. Both of them were really fun and challenging. Unfortunately, I didn’t send either. I only tried each of them one time. I’m hoping to get back on them when we go back for our climbing team week trip! Now I’m headed to Boulder and then on Thursday to Vail for the Teva Mountain Games events and Climbing World Cup. Can’t wait!

Kasia, I have known you for a very long time now. I wish I could just tell you to your face all these things or atleast just tell you who this is but I can't. Because I've none you for so long now and I know you won't take any of this I say seriously and then you will just stop being friends with me. Thats what you do with everyone. Let's start with Thalia. You two used to be best friends and roommates. Then she slowly started getting to be a strong climber. You two used to be inseperable and then it seems like after she sent Old Scratch things were never the same. She was such a good friend to you, and like that you end it. Then Kate Reese, you hated her because she was your competition even though she is a very nice girl. And Ashley Hamilton, you never gave that girl the time of day at first. You didn't start being friends with her until you realized she wasn't as strong as you. The Isabelle, she came to Tennesse to live and climb with you. Then you 2 never even climbed together! You both just talked about each other, saying the same things about each other! You 2 were so competitive with one another, talked so much trash on one another and barely were friends anymore. After YEARS of being close friends, it ended, over climbing Then Holly. She seemed like she was a better friend to you then anyone you had and then once she starts climbing strong I hardly see you two climbing together. You two used to hang out all the time, now you barely talk. Kasia, there aren't that many girls that climb. Especially in the south. How many do you think you can just keep going through? Oh wait, now you're friends with Thompsie. Let's just hope she doesnt get stronger than you. Do you not see a trend here? Because everyone else does. Be nice to these girls, they were all so nice to you. Don't let your competitiveness ruin your friendships anymore. You come off as a really nice girl, but the people who really know you just seem to see the insecure girl who writes her closest friends off without concern. It's really sad, and just kind of plain mean.

That is a load of bullshit. I've known Kasia since 2004. Buy a dictionary, take a lesson in grammar, and keep these thoughts to yourself. Kasia's blog is not the place to bring "Anonymous" hate.

  3. if you are my friend, anonymous, you would tell me this to my face not on my blog, hiding yourself behind a computer screen... or at least have the decency to say who you are!

  4. I think all of this is taken out of context. I don't know a lot about kasia's relationships with other people, but i've NEVER heard anyone say anything like this, even though you say "everyone else" sees the trend. What I see is a list of people who are constantly moving to-and-from Chattanooga. Personally, I'm friends with nearly all those people as well, but I hardly ever get to climb with them because of clashing schedules and busy lives.

As far as I go, I think it's quite the opposite. You say that Kash didn't give me the time of day until she realized i was not as strong as her... That is totally not true, as from day 1 of meeting kasia in like 2006 or something, she knew i was not as strong as her. The reason we didn't become actual friends until a couple years ago because i MOVED TO CHATTANOOGA. Not because she "suddenly realized" i was weaker than her, you know? I think that when i started climbing harder is when kasia wanted to start climbing with me. And you know what? We STILL hardly get to climb together because of life events and clashing schedules. It's as simple as that.

I'm sure I could be accused of this same thing, taken out of context, simply because I definitely go in phases of who i climb with... NOT on purpose, but just who is available and keen to climb when and where i am.

    Hope this makes sense.

  5. You are no better than any of the crazy bitches on desperate house wives. If you have a problem with someone, you don't go into a public forum and try to humiliate and debase their name. This is spineless and unprincipled. Additionally, please learn how to spell and conjugate before you go and try to vilify someone by means of written assault. The poor spelling and grammar really took the air out of your cowardly attack.

The Kasia you described is not the Kasia that we all know and love. She is completely selfless in her commitment to TBA, the climbing community, and the young climbers in Chattanooga. I have never seen her seek out drama or cause drama. Many of the girls you mentioned in the above post moved away, quit climbing at TBA, etc. Life changes quickly and these variables cause good friends to fade apart. I have many people I was best friends with who I don't even speak to anymore. It is not because I don't like them. It is simply because we both changed and whatever then we had in common, went away.

I find it very ironic that you chose to comment in regard to this post. Kasia's post did not have a narcissistic or vain tone in it and it clearly describes her taking three younger climbers with on her trip. She didn't take AJ, Andres, and Lydia to the Red because she is a better climber than them. She took them because she is a devoted coach (and they are some cool kids on top of that) and she is giving back to the climbing community. Anyone who started climbing before they were 16 will understand how important things like that really are. I could go on, but I won't.

Please do us all a favor and get married to someone rich, quit climbing, and get on a reality tv show because that is where this shit belongs. Kasia, thanks for being a great friend a climbing partner.
Hugh (and Thompsie feels the same way)

  11. Um, anonymouses. You guys are all "pussies." I understand not wanting to start some beef, but if you are going to attack someone this personal at least have the "balls" to say who you are and to their face. If Kasia didn't want to be your friend because of how you feel, then she is wrong. But if you are making false, ignorant accusations then you, Anonymous coward, are wrong. Its natural to not want to climb with certain people, and it's also natural to have different schedules. Not everyone is perfect, but I do know that Kasia is fair, and can handle the truth.
