Little Cottonwood Canyon

Leaving Joe's

last two nights we've been climbing at little cottonwood
first night we were at the bully area...
with a big crew of ppl, but most of them didn't even climb...

yesterday: jimmy had a great night...
started off with doing the bully (v11), then we went back down to the first boulder by the road and he completed copperhead (v10)...
then we proceeded up one boulder where he did all thumbs (v10)...
isabelle, jon and i climbed around on some crazy hard v4s, which eventually isabelle unlocked the beta on twisted dihedral (v4)...

today: we climbed at the gate area...

Jon warming up on the arete

jimmy had his eye on pro series (v11), he made the first few moves really easy...
the last move stopped him, but after a few burns he did the last move...
it was awesome! isabelle, jon and i tried the stand to what jimmy was working (super fly v8) but we failed because the right crimp was tiny and really sharp...
instead we started working on bar fly (v9 more like soft v8)...
after several minutes of figuring out the beta we had a send train going on it...

Bar fly

we then continued on over to the mr. smiley boulder...
jimmy sent two giant steps (v9), isabelle sent mr. smiley left (v8), and i did mr. smiley center (v7)...

Trade Show Comp

The big comp just ended...
Citizens comp to come...
Qualifiers was awesome! I climbed really strong and the problems were really awesome...
Favorite problem: #5 even though i didn't complete it, it was really awesome, i enjoyed all the big moves to good holds... the double heel hooks made it a great problem!
Least Favorite problem: #4 maybe if i would have figured out the campus beta i would have liked it more... instead i kept trying to swing my foot to the shitty jib out right...
Finals... there were a few issues... but still a lot of fun! first off, jimmy and i didn't know that we had to be in iso at 5pm, instead we showed up at 6:20pm, an hour before i climb... that's when they told me the limo i was going to be taking left at 6:45pm... i didn't end up having enough time to warm up and that hurt me on the 4 finals problems!
Favorite problem: #2 i didn't sent it either, which was definitely frustrating but it was really fun... every move was the same difficulty and overall it was a very southern type of problem...
Least Favorite problem: #3 the first move was really hard, the second move was really hard... the third was impossible... if there were more feet i think that it would have been a lot better problem...
When i finished climbing my fourth problem i pretty much had a heat stroke...
it was awful...
i couldn't breath normally...
i started crying out of no where because i couldn't take a regular breath...
i got taken to the first aid tent where they cooled my body temperature off...
i asked the doctors what my regular heart rate should be and they said 60...
mine was 150 when they checked it...
I think that there should be one modification to the competition...
the girls should climb when its cooler...
maybe start the comp at 7:30pm or 8:00pm...
maybe the comp would last longer, but i think it would be great! Overall the route setters did a good job...
there was a lot of energy...
good mix of music...
great holds...
can't wait for next year!!
i'll be training to be stronger!
and hopefully i'll be able to do an awkward dyno next time...

Colorado... once again!

Finally made it to the CO!
first day hiked up to the park... it was a tiring day!! had no sleep really... i tried out the moves on the marble to get a feel for the problem... worked all of them out again... jimmy almost did nothing but sunshine but unfortunetly split open his tip (it has healed alot over the last two days), jon had a good day and sent gangbang and handicaps... it was a long and tiring day!

rest day on the second day but we went to the local theme park and hung out there... also we wasted some more money and time at sam's club... we will have food for the next two years!!

today went to the park, but jimmy forgot his inhaler so we called it a rest day and played mini-golf twice, one in boulder and one in estes park... and in the evening we hiked up to stink bug... jimmy flashed!! i tried out all the moves.
The first move is really reachy and i wasn't able to do it, but i worked out beta for the other moves... maybe eventually i'll grow some and just do the move!!
tomorrow we will be heading up to the park as well... don't exactly know what we are going to be trying...

next time i'll add some pictures... or actually take some tomorrow and over the next few days!! besides that check out jimmy's blog and vimeo account for videos!
